CANADA/USA – SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Almost 1,000 firefighters are working to contain the Holiday Farm Fire in the McKenzie River drainage, including crews from 18 U.S. states and 3 Canadian provinces.

Over 100 Canadian firefighters from British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta arrived Sunday afternoon for briefing. They headed out to the fire lines Monday morning.

The National Guard also has six 20-person crews “working to improve fire containment lines on the west side of the fire,” according to a briefing from incident commanders.

“Firefighters are doing all they can to strengthen containment lines and begin mopup operations in key areas ahead of another weather system moving in Wednesday that will bring elevated winds out of the southwest. Rain is also expected later in the day on Wednesday,” according to fire managers.

New, more accurate infrared mapping shows the fire has burned over 170,637. That’s down about 2,400 acres from earlier estimates.
