SRI LANKA – A raging bush fire that had broken out at the Keppapilavu forest reserve in Mullaittivu was brought under control by Sri Lanka Army troops in Mullaitivu. Troops were rushed to the location after a report of a fire was brought to their notice on Saturday (05th May).

Accordingly, a group of 100 Army personnel under Security Force Headquarters – Mullaitivu (SFHQ-MLT) was sent to bring the fast spreading fire under control. Troops were able to douse the bushfire by the evening the same day.

This is second time troops had prevented a wild fire from spreading in the same forest reserve. Last month (21), a similar fire was brought under control by a group of more than sixty Army personnel.

Meanwhile another fire that had broken out at the Thadduwan forest reserve in Oddusudan area in the Northern region was also doused by a team of Army personnel at the beginning of the month (Tuesday 01).
