Stromboli: two eruptions and the fire, the Canadair arrived

ITALIA – (gds.it) The fire of the vegetation in the summit of the Stromboli, on the side of Ginostra, followed by two eruptions that occurred yesterday, made it necessary the intervention of two Canadair to extinguish the flames that broke just before 13. Twenty-six water launches performed. A forestry team based in Lipari has also arrived on the island. The fire, which affected about 10 hectares of vegetation, has been extinguished around 16.
Last March 7th there was a real explosion in the crater of the volcano that was also sighted by Lipari. It has occurred with the launch of incandescent lapilli. The activity is followed by the volvologists of the Ingv in Rome and Catania and also by the Civil Protection.
The eruptive activity is resumed after a period of truce. In December, the volcano had been continuously erupting, so that climbing to the mountains, for security reasons, had been authorized up to 400 meters in height.

ITALIA – (gds.it) L’incendio della vegetazione nella parte sommitale dello Stromboli, sul lato di Ginostra, seguito a due eruzioni che si sono verificate ieri, ha reso necessario l’intervento di due Canadair per spegnere le fiamme divampate poco prima delle 13. Ventisei i lanci d’acqua effettuati. Sull’isola è giunta anche una squadra della forestale di stanza a Lipari. L’incendio, che ha interessato circa 10 ettari di vegetazione, è stato spento intorno alle 16.
Lo scorso 7 marzo c’era stata una vera e propria esplosione nel cratere del vulcano che è stata avvistata anche da Lipari. Si è verificata con lancio di lapilli incandescenti. L’attività è seguita dai vulcanologi dell’Ingv di Roma e Catania e anche dalla Protezione civile.
L’attività eruttiva è ripresa dopo un periodo di tregua. A dicembre il vulcano era stato continuamente in piena eruzione, tanto che la scalata alla montagna, per ragioni di sicurezza, era stata autorizzata fino a 400 metri d’altezza.
