USA PADRE ISLAND – A brush fire that began Friday evening and burned overnight has been put out, according to authorities.
The fire occurred in an area covering parts of Nueces and Kleberg county several miles north of Padre Island National Seashore.
Flames were reported to begin around 4:30 p.m. Friday in Kleberg County before spreading into Nueces, according to the Flour Bluff Volunteer Fire Department.
Officials said that the fire began after a boat trailer’s tire came off, sparking nearby brush.
Several agencies from the surrounding area responded to the blaze, including Corpus Christi Fire Department, Kleberg County Fire Department and Port Aransas Fire Department.
Investigators report that about 500 acres were burned.
