Myanmar/Thailand–  Myanmar and Thailand discussed on Monday bilateral cooperation to prevent and solve cross-border haze, as the smog problem has affected people’s health and cross-border tourism for several years.

The discussion was held at Thai-Myanmar Township Border Committee (TBC) in Myanmar’s Tachileik Province, opposite Chiang Rai Province in the Upper Thai North.

Colonel Prapat Popsuwan, Commander of Thailand’s 2nd Calvary Regiment, under the Pa Muang Task Force, attended the 85th TBC meeting in his capacity as the TBC chair for the Thai side while Myanmar was represented by its officials.

At the meeting, the Myanmar side promised to launch campaigns to create public awareness against burning wastes and dry grass outdoor to solve the problem.
