Nepal — A person was burned to death while extinguishing wildfire in the district on Thursday.

According to DSP Govinda Sha at District Police Office, Khotang, the deceased is identified as Tikaram Tamang, 40, of Fedi-2, Tomane.

Tamang died while trying to douse the fire in thatch field that was raging towards some six houses at Fedi-2, Yapaye Danda.

Local Bir Bahadur Tamang said that Tikaram fell off the cliff after he was inflicted to severe burn injuries in the inferno.

He breathed his last while being ferried to Kathmandu for treatment via a chopper.
