USA — A Mississippi firefighter died Saturday while fighting a wildland fire in an area east of Liberty after suffering and apparent heart attack.

Long-time volunteer Firefighter Dwight Hilton, 57, of East Fork went into cardiac arrest while fighting fire, East Central Volunteer Fire Chief Cam Sharp, told the media, according to The Mississippi Press. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Sharp told the press the fire started at about 12:30 p.m. on the north side of Mississippi Highway 24, according to The Mississippi Press. The 10 acre woods and grass fire was extinguished but not before it threatened some houses in the area. It appears the fire might have started in three different places and the arson has not been ruled.
