India — A woman, presumed to be around 35 years old, was found trapped in a forest fire that broke out near Kilnadukani in the Gudalur division on Tuesday.
“About 3 acres of grassland was damaged in the fire. While fighting to douse the flames, forest officials came across a woman trapped by the fire,” district forest officer Deepak S Bilji, said.
“We did not know who she was and immediately alerted the police. She was later admitted to the hospital and is now out of danger,” said Bilji.
“The woman is around 35 years old and we suspect she must have been under the influence of alcohol,” Devala DSP Arumugam said. Both of her legs have been burnt partially in the fire and she has been referred to the Ooty government hospital, the DSP added.
“As the woman is still under sedation, we have not been able to ascertain her identity,” Arumugam said. A case has been registered at the Devala police station.
