Philippines — Fire burned a portion of the grassland outside the perimeter fence of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City on Monday.

The fire, which started around noon, was extinguished “a little past 2 p.m.” by the personnel of the airport’s fire and rescue unit, said the staff of the NAIA media affairs office.

At this writing, the NAIA safety department had yet to come up with a report on the incident, which reportedly took place at the “restricted area” facing Merville subdivision.

A NAIA media affairs office staffer said “grass fires are normal occurrences here during the summer months,” adding “today’s grass fire did not affect any incoming or outgoing flights.”
