Iran — A forest fire that has burned about 30 hectares of woods in central Iran has been extinguished but wind is threatening to start another wildfire.
The wildfire in Abr Forest in Semnan province erupted on Monday and was extinguished Tuesday evening, said Semnan’s Governor Abbas Rahi.
The fire has been completely extinguished, but wind blowing in the region has raised fears about another wildfire, he told Mehr news agency on Wednesday.
More than 500 military troops have been deployed to the region to help firefighters and rescue forces to extinguish the wildfire, he said.
About 1,000 individuals from different provincial organizations have helped extinguish the fire, he said.
The official did not reveal the causes behind the fire but a committee has been formed to probe into the issue.
