New Caledonia — There is concern in New Caledonia that the El Nino weather pattern will worsen the territorys bushfire season this summer.
The head of the firefighters organisation says all indicators are on red and they fear that theer will be fires with serious consequencs for the environment.
About 3,000 hectares have been destroyed in the past few months despite recent rain and a slight drop in temperatures.
