India — Two sisters were killed and five other women were injured while trying to extinguish a forest fire atMihara inJogindernagar Sub-division ofMandi district, forest department sources said today.
The incident occurred yesterday when seven women and four men including forest personnel were dousing the fire atMihara forest, DFOJogindernagar Ajeet Thakur said.
The two ladies identified asIndira (27) andSumita (30) were trapped in the fire and died on the spot, he said, adding that the five other women suffered minor burn injuries.
