Malaysia — A forest fire that razed 58 hectares of oil palm and rubber estates in Pengerang here since March 3 had finally been controlled today after a round-the-clock battle involving 106 firemen.
Deployed from all over the state, the firemen are expected to leave the Pengerang Estate after they had completely doused the biggest peat soil fire in the State to date.
State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Abdul Hamid S. Abdullah said the firemen have camped nearby the estate to control the fire and monitor the situation in the past 17 days.
