POLICE are reportedly conducting secret surveillance on arsonists after bushfires ripped through NSW yesterday.

The Daily Telegraph newspaper says 30 known and suspected arsonists are being tracked by police as firefighters continue to work to contain two large blazes in the state’s south and central coast.

The arsonists were being watched by a network of police, firefighters and family and friends, the newspaper said.

Most of the arsonists lived in the bushfire hotspots such as the Hunter and south coast regions and all were being closely monitored during the peak fire danger season.
