Current extreme weather conditions fueled fires in the Western Cape that continued to burn or break out since the beginning of February. Several fires were visible when the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASAs Terra satellite passed over South Africa and captured this image on 23 February 2009.
