Survey Results of the Forest Firein South Korea

Two weeks ago a fire review team from the Korea Forest Research Institute/Forest Fire Laboratory surveyed the area burned in April 2000 in the rugged mountain terrain near Samchok, about 225 km east of Seoul. The Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC) reported about the incident on 13 April and 17 April 2000.
Mr. Joo-Hoon Lim from the Korea Forest Research Institute supported the GFMC with following survey results: The total burned area was about 23,448 ha (forest).
