The fire fighting efforts on site in the region of Bale and Borana are coordinated by a joint GFMC-GTZ team, which is supported by the US Defence Meteorological Satellite Programe (DMSP) with satellite imageries. The DMSP satellites provide nighttime light information.
The imageries below show the development of the fires since 28 Ferbuary to 1 March. The red dots represent active fires. Land signature: brown; water: blue; clouds: grey; stable lights (cities): cyan.
