Workshop on the Guidelines for theImplementation of the ASEAN Policy on Zero Burning,
14-15 July 2004, Kuala Rompin, Pahang, Malaysia
A workshop on zero burning will be organised by Department of Environment (DOE), Malaysia in coordination with the ASEAN Secretariat on 14-15 July 2004 in Kuala Rompin, Pahang, Malaysia. The workshop intends to introduce and promote the Guidelines for the Implementation of ASEAN Policy on Zero Burning, published by the ASEAN Secretariat in early 2004.
Malaysia led the development of the Guidelines, which provide a reference guide for the implementation of zero burning techniques by plantation companies and timber concessionaires. Representatives from plantation companies and timber concessionaires, fire experts and scientists are expected to participate in this workshop. Activities will include interactive dialogue among the participants and field visits to see implementation of zero burning technique for development of oil palm plantations from logged over forests.
