Nepal —  The Kankai community forest at Surunga in Jhapa district has constructed fire-breaker pits and path around the forest area for preventing bush fire following an upsurge in wild fires in the forest area.

An eight-kilometer-long pit and path has been constructed around the forest at a total cost of Rs. 320,000.

The forest users’ committee dug the pit and the path around the forest to stop the bush fire from spreading.
