USA —

Cal Fire says a wildfire in the East County last Friday was accidentally sparked by prison workers taking part in training exercises.

The fire burned 65 acres and briefly threatened homes near the Singing Hills Golf Resort in Dehesa.

While authorities won’t specify the exact cause, early reports suggested it was ignited by a flash-bang grenade used by law enforcement to subdue uncooperative suspects or inmates.
