Figure 1 shows burn  scars in areas of Manitoba and Ontario where fires were actively burning last week. Intensity of two hot spot areas, one west of Big Trout Lake and the other in Manitoba near the border with Ontario, indicates that fires may be starting again after being diminished by a storm system that passed over the region last weekend. These areas of concern are indicated by yellow arrows in the image.

Because of very little snow or rain this past winter and spring, predictions for a forest fire summer are given.
