Argentina seeking hercules transport, firefighting aircraft

ARGENTINA - Argentina on 15 February decided on plans to purchase a Lockheed Martin L-100-30 Hercules to be mainly used for firefighting duties.
The decision was made during a meeting between Argentine minister of defence Julio Martínez and minister of environment Sergio Bergman. According to their agreement, the aircraft will be purchased with funds from the Ministry of Environment.
The aircraft is to be operated by the Argentine Air Force’s Grupo 1 de Transporte Aéreo of the I Brigada Aérea, which also operates a fleet of two C-130H, two KC-130H, and one L-100-30 aircraft.
