Nepal — A fire that sparked in Durdimba village of Panchthar charred one to death on Friday evening.

Sahabir Magar of Tokha, Durdimba-9 died while extinguishing the fire that a nearby forest caught at around 8 pm yesterday evening.

Sahabir’s son Kundal was injured in the fire.

Panchthar District Police said Magar was battling to douse the fire after the inferno in jungle was extended to human settlement area.

The 3,500 hectare area of forest was destroyed in the fire.

It is learnt that the fire that began at around 11 am yesterday is yet to be controlled.

Likewise, inferno broken out two days ago at Memeng community forest in Panchthar is still uncontrolled.

The inferno destroyed 1,000 hectare forest area, according to police.

Two houses were gutted in another incident of fire that broke out in Subhang-3 of the district on Thursday evening.
