USA — RENO, Nev.—The U.S. Small Business Administration is setting up shop in Reno again to help facilitate federal disaster loans for residents and businesses after Washoe County suffered its second big wildfire in two months.

The low-interest loans become available Friday to victims of the Washoe Drive fire, which destroyed 29 homes south of Reno two weeks ago.

Businesses and non-profit groups can borrow up to $2 million. Homeowners can get up to $200,000 and renters up to $40,000.

The loans also are available through April 2 to qualifying victims in 12 different counties in Nevada, Oregon and California that share a border with Washoe County.

Feb. 6 is the deadline for loan applications from victims of the earlier Caughlin fire that destroyed 26 southwest Reno homes in December.
