USA — A controlled burn that got out of hand destroyed two abandoned structures on property near the intersection of Wischkaemper and Wood Hi roads at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.

A small grass fire burned up to a mobile home and another small house, both of which had been unoccupied for years, Victoria Fire Department Battalion Chief Roger Hempel said.

Both were a total loss.

The DaCosta Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the blaze.

Both departments cleared the scene within an hour, Hempel said.
