Bush fires threatening villages in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka —

Over 15 acres of Akurukaduwa jungle at Meegahakiula, Badulla has already been destroyed by a bush fire currently spreading in the area.

According to the Meegahakiula police, the bush fires, erupted inside the jungles last night now has reached the edge of several villages in the area.

The forest conservation officers say they are unable to control the fire as it is spreading fast due to the prevailing dry weather in the area.

However there were no injuries or property damages reported yet, police confirmed.
