USA — San Luis Obispo County residents donated more than $19,000 to SouthernCalifornia wildfire victims through the Red Cross.
Red Cross also sent seven volunteers south to offer assistance, organizationofficials said.
Thanks to the tremendous compassion shown to the residents of SouthernCalifornia by communities like San Luis Obispo County, the American Red Crosswas able to swiftly and successfully meet the needs of one of the largestevacuations in California history, Grace McIntosh, the chapters executivedirector, said in a statement.
The Red Cross opened 26 shelters after the wildfires struck, providing aplace to stay for more than 6,000 evacuees.
