WICHITA, Kan. (AP) – Prosecutors have declined to file criminal charges against a driver accused of sparking the grass fire that led to the death of a Sedgwick County firefighter.

The blaze started last week when the driver of a tractor-trailer knocked over a utility pole and power lines.

Sedgwick County District Attorney Nola Foulston says the driver did not know she had struck the power pole and was not aware of the resulting grass fire.

Thirty-2-year-old Bryon Johnson died when he came into contact with an electrical wire while fighting the blaze.

Prosecutors said the 46-year-old driver has been charged with state traffic violations, but they offered no details.

The name of the driver was not released.
