Israel — The Golan Heights forest fire that kept firefighters occupied during the night has been brought under control and totally extinguished.

A number of blazes erupted on Thursday, the result of the unseasonably hot and dry weather, with the largest fire located near the Nahal M’shushim nature reserve. Officials report 250 dunams (62 acres) of forestry was destroyed as a result.

Firefighting planes remain on standby due to the continued hot and dry weather conditions, ready to respond should any of the blazes reactivate.
