Burn scars are recorded in the areas of Manitoba and Ontario by OSEI on 10 May 1999 .

Figure 1 shows burn scars in areas of Manitoba and Ontario where fires were actively burning last week. A storm system passed over the region late last week and over the weekend. Light snow cover can be seen on the shores of Hudson Bay.

Because of very little snow or rain this past winter and spring, predictions for a forest fire summer are given.
