The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) (www.itto.or.jp)is an intergovernmental organization established by a United Nations-negotiatedtreaty to promote sustainable development through tropical forest management,tropical forest conservation, and a sustainable tropical timber trade. ITTOformulates policies related to the sustainable management of tropical forests(including on the management of forest fire) and funds projects to implementsuch policies in the forest.
