20 July 2001 — To cope with a large influx of visitors to an area parched by drought and a buildup of heavy wildland fire fuels, fire managers on the Wenatchee National forest have engaged the services of a National Fire Prevention/Education Team to help plan, prepare, and deliver fire prevention and education messages to the public. The Wenatchee team includes fire prevention and public affairs personnel from the Washington Department of Natural Resources, the USDA Forest Service, and the Colorado State Forest Service.
