ARMENIA -YEREVAN. – The number of fires in Armenia has increased unprecedentedly in recent days. Minister of Emergency Situations Feliks Tsolakyan stated about this at the government Cabinet meeting.

“We have up to 100 fires a day, which is a very high figure for this season, and there are already difficulties moving from one place to another and extinguishing fires,” he added. “The territorial administration authorities have to deal very seriously with this.

The villagers gather and burn the leaves, remains of their orchards, [but] then they do not monitor, and the fire spreads.

There are fires for other reasons, too. We now have cases of forest fires that are not specific to this season; for example, we had 95 fires yesterday. ”

Also, Tsolakyan asked the rural community leaders to be attentive.
