Fire in Amorgos forest area

GREECE – A fire broke out at noon on February 24, 2020 in Amorgos and specifically in the “Kapsala” area, between Chora and Aegiali, in a low vegetation forest.

The firefighter of the Municipality of Amorgos, Mr. Michalis Gavalas and the forester, Mr. Michalis Vekris, were on the spot with the fire truck, while an alarm was sounded at the Civil Protection Operations Center and under the command of Commander Kioskos Kyproukos. which did extinguish the fire.

The police, the IM Hozoviotisis auxiliary, EDOK Amorgos, municipal officials, Deputy Mayor Grispos Constantinos and the crowd were on hand at the scene and helped to contain and extinguish the fire.

The fire burned 150 acres of low vegetation forest and is due to the burning of dry grass.

The Municipality of Amorgos urges breeders and beekeepers to be especially careful to avoid unpleasant events in the future.
