Nine Firefighters Injured at Milepost 97 Fire (OR)

USA – The Oregon Department of Forestry says nine firefighters have been injured while battling the Milepost 97 Fire near Canyonville since the fire started July 24. Monday, the Oregon Department of Forestry told KATU News that only one person had been hospitalized for injuries; a firefighter who was injured by rolling debris.

The other eight injuries were reported before Monday and were not as serious.

Monday night, ODF said the fire was estimated at 11,668 acres and was 15% contained. It was threatening 586 structures and three homes have been evacuated.

Firefighters are awaiting the results of infrared scans they performed overnight to get a better idea on the fire’s current size.
