Central African Republic – Three people have died in a bushfire in a village near Birao, a town in the north of the Central African Republic (CAR) bordering Chad and Sudan.Reliable sources told APA on Wednesday that the incident happened on Tuesday.

The country’s dry season started this year with a spate of bushfires that often wipe away entire communities and wreak havoc, including the destruction of forests and homes, aside from the huge ecological damage.

CAR bushfires are caused by people who while hunting in the wild, start fires to choke animals out of their dens or holes before slaughtering them.

Faced with the monstrosity of such fires after growing out of control, hunters are sometimes overwhelmed in their bid to extinguish or contain them, leaving them to spread quickly, aided by dry grass.
