NETHERLANDS – BUDEL – In Budel Sunday afternoon a large nature fire raged on a military training ground. The grassland on Fabrieksstraat caught fire around half past three. The fire turned to the forest area. According to the fire department, about ten hectares of nature reserves have been destroyed. This amounts to twenty football fields.

The fire service reported that the fire was under control around six o’clock. Several corps from Brabant and Limburg were called to fight the fire. Eight extinguishers and several water containers were called.

Great job
A peloton that was in a stand-by position also had to take action around five o’clock. The area was deposited. The fire brigade said that the approach asked a lot from the firefighters, partly because of the high temperature. A drone was used to get a good picture of the burning area.

The fire brigade and the police ask people to give relief workers the space to be able to work safely. It is also advised to stay out of the smoke. In addition, the fire brigade knows that the fire in the immediate vicinity can cause odor nuisance for a while. Aerial work platforms are used to extinguish the fire.
