ARGENTINA – A forest fire of great proportions was recorded this afternoon in San Martin de los Andes. The incident occurred on one of the slopes of Covisal, where a main focus and at least two other secondary casualties were fought.
The fire, which was uncontrolled, was fought by brigadistas, Volunteer Firemen, National Parks, Gendarmerie and the Army. He also works at least one helicopter and one plane in the place as air support.
The flames advanced rapidly due to the changing wind. “The fire is being fought but there is no risk to the population,” said the director of Civil Defense of San Martin, Esteban Bosch.
The access to the Covisal neighborhood is cut off and the visibility in the place is almost nil.
