AUSTRALIA : AN unpredictable bushfire is burning out of control in an inaccessible part of Greenmount National Park near Darlington.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services district officer Nigel Elliott said helitacs had just been stood down because of fading light.

“The fire is burning along the scarp and at this stage does not present a threat to lives or property,” he said.

“Career firefighters, DPaW and local brigades are on the scene.

“We are currently getting information on the location of the fire and what resources we will need throughout the night.”

The cause of the fire, which started near the intersection of Greenmount Rise and Robinson Road, is unknown.

DFES has issued a bushfire advice for people east and north east of Greenmount Rise in Greenmount in the Shire of Mundaring.

Residents are advised there is a lot of smoke in the area.

Though no immediate danger, residents need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

The bushfire is moving moderately in a north easterly direction.
