Russia to provide $1 million to Armenia for fighting bushfires

RUSSIA/ ARMENIA: YEREVAN, September 14. /ARKA/. Russia is to provide $1 million to Armenia for fighting bushfires, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volinkin said on Thursday.

According to Golos Armenii, Artsvik Minasyan, Armenian nature protection minister, and Bradley Busetto (USA), UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for Armenia, have signed an appropriate document on a joint project.

Volinkin is quoted by the newspaper as saying that a new project aimed at fighting forest fires in Armenia was being launched, and Russia has allocated $1 million for this purpose.

“This project is designed for three years and it will last until 2020,” he said.

In his words, Russia’s emergency ministry and Federal Forestry Agency will take a direct part in implementation of this program.
