Bushfire burning through Pilbara national park

AUSTRALIA – More than 1000 hectares have so far been burnt in a Pilbara national park due to a bushfire starting yesterday afternoon.
Located 245km north east of Newman, the fire started in the Karlamilyi National Park and has destroyed 1800 hectares as it continues to burn.
Burning near the intersection of Camp Tracy Road and Talawana Track, the cause of the fire is still unknown as firefighters monitor the situation.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services have reported a lot of smoke in the area, and while there is no immediate danger travellers need to be aware of the situation as it develops.
Drivers have been advised to turn on headlights, drive slowly and watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
Main Roads have not closed roads yet and are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible and drive carefully due to smoke.
