USA — PASCO COUNTY, FL — Two brush fires in in the area of State Road 52 continued to burn Monday night, but both had been contained well enough that Pasco County officials lifted voluntary evacuations.

The first fire is being dubbed the Silver Palms fire by Pasco County officials. The fire is close to the Suncoast Lakes subdivision where there are an estimated 50 homes. Just before 8 p.m., the county reported the fire was about 200 to 300 yards from the nearest homes. The 20-acre, slow-moving fire was about 20 percent contained, an email from county spokesman Doug Tobin said.

The second fire is being called the Campground Fire. That blaze covers about 55 acres in the Starkey Wilderness Preserve/Seranova Preserve area south of State Road 52 and Hays Road. This fire was considered 55 percent contained just before 8 p.m.

While both fires continued to burn, the county had lifted evacuation requests. As of Monday evening, the Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter had closed and was not accepting evacuees.
