USA Saint Dolly strikes again! East Tennessee native Dolly Parton will continue to help victims of the deadly wildfires that struck Gatlinburg, Tennessee in late November through her My People Fund, which is run by Dollywood Companies.
In a previous statement, the Dollywood Foundation website announced, We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires. To aid in their recovery effort, the Dollywood Foundation will provide $1,000 a month to all of those families who lost their homes in the fires for six months so that they can get back on their feet.
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, the fund received more than 80,000 donations in December and January and has already begun issuing monthly $1,000 checks to 921 Sevier County residents who lost their homes. The fund will continue to assist those affected for six months. The fire killed 14 people and damaged or destroyed over 2,400 structures. Learn more about Parton’s admirable fund here.
