CHILE – On the afternoon of Wednesday, ONEMI’s directors, Ricardo Toro, and CONAF, Aaron Cavieres, together with the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Silvia Rucks, presented a new report on the situation of forest fires between the regions of Coquimbo and The Araucanía.
According to the above, at the moment 587 people are registered, 6.162 homeless and 1,551 homes destroyed.
At present the regions of Maule, Bío Bío and La Araucanía are declared as State of Catastrophe, besides the provinces of Colchagua and Cardenal Caro in the Region of O’higgins.
As for the resources deployed, these amount to a total of 42 aircraft (aircraft and helicopters) that are being used under the technical management of Conaf.
In firefighting and control work, there are 20,424 people working in the area, including Conaf firefighters, volunteer firefighters, State personnel and the Armed Forces, of which 1,351 are national brigadistas, 4,000 are firefighters, 9,144 military contingents, 609 people of foreign support, 2,923 between Carabineros and PDI, and 2,397 between Ministries and Public Services. In addition, there are 612 heavy machinery and more than 305 fire trucks in the field.
Defense Minister José Antonio Gómez said he hoped that between today and tomorrow the fires of the area are contained or controlled.
There are 12 shelters in the Maule Region and 31 shelters in the Region of Biobío.
In relation to the precautionary measures, the most frequent ones correspond to the biweekly signature, which has been applied in 17 cases and the roots, which have been used in 15 occasions.

CHILE – La tarde de este miércoles, los directores de ONEMI, Ricardo Toro, y CONAF, Aarón Cavieres, junto a la Coordinadora Residente de Naciones Unidas, Silvia Rucks, entregaron un nuevo reporte referido a la situación de los incendios forestales entre las regiones de Coquimbo y La Araucanía.
De acuerdo a lo anterior, al momento se registran 587 personas albergadas, 6.162 damnificados y 1.551 viviendas destruidas.
Actualmente se encuentran declaradas como Estado de Catástrofe las regiones del Maule, Bío Bío y La Araucanía, además de las provincias de Colchagua y Cardenal Caro en la Región de O’higgins.
En cuanto a los recursos desplegados, estos ascienden a un total de 42 aeronaves (aviones y helicópteros) que se están empleando bajo la gestión técnica de Conaf.
En labores de control y extinción de incendios, hay 20.424 personas trabajando en el lugar, incluyendo a brigadistas de Conaf, Bomberos voluntarios, personal del Estados y las Fuerzas Armadas, de los cuales 1.351 son brigadistas nacionales, 4.000 son bomberos, 9.144 contingentes militares, 609 personas de apoyo extranjero, 2.923 entre Carabineros y PDI, y 2.397 entre Ministerios y Servicios Públicos. Adicionalmente, funcionan en terreno 612 maquinarias pesadas y más de 305 carros de Bomberos.
El ministro de Defensa, José Antonio Gómez, dijo esperar que entre hoy y mañana los incendios de la zona estén contenidos o controlados.
Se mantienen 12 albergues habilitados en la Región del Maule y 31 albergues en la Región del Biobío.
En relación a las medidas cautelares, las más frecuentes corresponden a la firma quincenal, que se ha aplicado en 17 casos y los arraigos, que han sido utilizados en 15 ocasiones.
