Australia —   THE Country Fire Service (CFS) are hosting a Fiery Women workshop at Cleve.

This safety workshop empowers women to understand bushfires and help make best choices in the event of an bushfire emergency. Topics covered include whether to stay or go, identifying hazards around the house, how to prepare emotionally and physically when faced with a bushfire and how to operate fire pumps and equipment.

CFS community engagement officer Therese Pedler said women were often at home during a bushfire crisis and frequently responsible for children, sometimes elderly parents, pets and their home and required to make hard and emotional decisions not only for themselves but also for all the others they are responsible for.

Ms Pedler said the workshop would give woman an understanding of the threat of bushfire, conditions people can face and the confidence to make informed and safe decisions. To register please call Ms Pedler on 0428 114 234.
