Wildfire in abrams creek area of great smoky mountains national park

USA Rangers reported that firefighters were battling a 25-acre wildfire in the Abrams Creek Campground Area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, about 15 miles south of Maryville.
Officials said the fire was not threatening structures, roads or trails and that all parts of the park remained open, although smoke was visible from the Foothills Parkway.
The cause was unclear, but rangers said lightning was a possibility.
The Happy Valley Ridge Fire was reported around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14. Park firefighters Tennessee Division of Forestry firefighters responded.
Rangers reported the fire spread slowly with flame lengths less than three feet high. At times, the active fire reached flame heights between five to six feet high during the hottest, driest periods of the afternoon.
A Hotshot fire crew from the Cherokee National Forest was scheduled to help keep the fire at bay with a suppression fire zone.
