China — Forestry police in the Greater Hinggan Mountains in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province practice in the use of fire-fighting tanks in a field training on Thursday. The annual forest fire hazard season has begun, and the coming three-day Tomb Sweeping Festival, which starts Saturday and is marked by people burning paper gifts for the departed, increases the fire risk to the densely forested mountains. Fire-fighting tanks, more technically known as multifunctional crawler forest fire engines, can transport water and personnel as they traverse the tough off-road terrain . The Greater Hinggan Mountains are the largest forest region in China. [Photo/Xinhua]
