Forest fire rages in Eastern Samar town

Philippines — Around 50 hectares of land have been razed by an ongoing forest fire in Barangay Biga in Giporlos town, Eastern Samar.
The fire has also started to spread across the mountains, authorities said.
But some residents have not expressed alarm, saying that the fire is far from their homes.
According to barangay chairman Felipo Ecleo, firemen are having difficulty putting out the blaze since there are no roads in the area.
“Hindi yan kaya pasukin ng bumbero dahil walang kalsada,” he said.
Giporlos police said no casualty has been reported so far.
Authorities have yet to determine how the forest fire started, but noted that Eastern Samar has been experiencing hot weather for days now
