USA — The Itasca Community College Wildland Firefighter Program has been recognized by Firescience.org as a school which has a significant number of women in their program.

The employment opportunities for women and underrepresented groups are widespread,” stated ICC faculty member Marty Christensen.

This past summer, students worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Minnesota, Arizona and Montana. Students have various options within the natural resources area to obtain a certificate or degree in specific fields. Itasca’s program is recognized nationally as a top program in the United States and has graduates working all over the country.

“ICC prides itself on personal attention from a highly qualified and engaged faculty, and the natural resources department is a perfect example of this commitment,” said Itasca Community College Provost Dr. Barbara McDonald.
