Australia — A watch and act warning was issued at 6.30pm yesterday for people in the north-east part of the park.

The fire started next to Dales Gorge Road and continues to burn near Dales Gorge Campground, which has been closed along with Karijini Visitor Centre, Kalamina Falls and Fortescue Falls.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife helped more than 80 people to flee the campground.

The fire alert level was downgraded to an advice at 10.30pm and also applied to people travelling in the Wittenoom, Youngleen and Auski Roadhouse areas.

At 8.30am this morning, a DPaW spokeswoman said the fire remained out of control and unpredictable.
